Wild Child Edmonton

Wild Child Edmonton, children playing in a tree

Wild Child programs provide child-led, play-based learning through repeated exposure to nature helping to foster a lasting relationship with the natural world. We offer three programs: Forest Schools, Nature Immersion and Eco-Buddies. All programs incorporate outdoor free play, exploration and discovery, and nature-based activities.

Forest Schools

At Forest School, we fully embrace the fact that nature can be a great teacher! Leaders create an open and safe environment for kids to explore, create, play, learn, and grow all while engaging in child-led risky play. Kids can expect to get muddy, dirty, wet, and have lots of fun! These programs are offered in week-long sessions during the summer months or in 6-8 week programs during the year.

Nature Immersion

This program is designed for preschool and early childhood centers to empower practioners to incorporate outdoor play as part of their regular curriculum. Over three two-hour sessions, kids and early childhood educators alike are immersed in a natural setting to rediscover play and learning in a nearby nature pocket.

Eco-Buddies

This program combines climate literacy, science class, and outdoor play and exploration for Grades 4 to 6. We offer a Forest and Plants Program and a Wetland Program within natural areas in Edmonton.
